This diploma thesis "Freelance journalist Franta Kocourek" deals with the life and career of Franta Kocourek, the important Czechoslovak journalist in the 20. century. Diploma focuses especially on his working in the press media - prestigious periodicals of the First Czechoslovak Republic weekly magazine Přítomnost and daily newspaper Lidové noviny, not too much successful weekly magazine Groš, leaded by himself, and daily newspaper Slovenský hlas. Kocourek especially had concentrated on reportages, but he was also very universial in styles and issues. He had been writing profound reportages about growing influence of nacism besides surveys about people living at the edge of society, expert studies about the cinemotagraphy or essayes. This diploma describes Kocourek as a omnifarious personality, who had been occupying by literature, movies or public lectures except his working in media. There is also mentioned his working in the radio, where he had been improving among the best reporters at the turn of the 1930s and the 1940s, who had been going along with the Czechoslovak people during last period of the First Czechoslovak Republic, short time of the Second Czechoslovak Republic and the nazi ocupation. Perception of Czechoslovakian cinematography by German film periodicals between 1933-1945

Diploma thesis "Perception of Czechoslovakian cinematography by German film periodicals between 1933 - 1945" deals with the Czech film industry as it was received by German specialized press with an emphasis on the recognition of changes, that took place after the formation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The period is divided into two stages. The first, 1933 to March 15, 1939 and the second, March 16, 1939 to May 1945, when the end of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was proclaimed. Historical events determined the path of Czech cinematography and later protectoral cinematography (Slovak cinematography was not developed at the time). These events are specified in the thesis as well as the Czech film industry in terms of local and foreign production, distribution, film - makers and organizations. A lot of news from Czech lands was published in the German press due to close connections between Czech and German cinematography which was only further interconnected after the formation of the Protectorate. The analytical portion comprises a historical comparison of texts from daily Der Film - Kurier, weekly Der Film and monthly Der deutsche Film. Zusammenfassung Die Diplomarbeit "Die Protektoratsregierungen und ihren legislativen Tätigkeiten" zielt darauf ab, den Leser mit den Aktivitäten der einzelnen Protektoratsregierungen im zeitgenössischen Kontext und mit deren Gesetzgebungstätigkeit zwischen 15. 3. 1939 und 5.5.1945 vertraut zu machen. Die Arbeit ist in drei Teile gegliedert. Der erste Teil trägt den Titel "Historische Pfad zum Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren". Dieses Kapitel ist in zwei Teile geteilt. Der erste Teil beschäftigt sich mit dem Ende der zwanzigjährigen Existenz der Tschechoslowakei auf der Grundlage von Verhandlungen von vier europäischen Mächten auf der Münchner Konferenz. Das zweite Kapitel beschreibt die Entwicklung und die Wende in der Politik der neuen Regierung mit Orientierung auf Nazi-Deutschland. Im zweiten Kapitel "Anfang des Protektorats" werden in ihrem ersten Teil die Nachtverhandlungen von Emil Hácha in Berlin und die gleichzeitige Sitzung der Regierung in frühen Stunden des 15. Františka Plamínková As a Journalist, a Politician And a Feminist - a Biographical Research

This thesis deals with the life of Františka Plamínková (1875-1942) paying special attention to her role as a women's rights activist, politician and journalist. The study maps out Plamínková's journey to becoming one of the principal characters of the Czech women's movement before and after the First World War and her merits regarding the women's suffrage in Czechoslovakia in the appropriate historical context. Furthermore, it describes her politics in the Czechoslovak Senate as well as her other public activities, such as being the chairwoman of the Czech National Women's Council. It highlights Plamínková's fate during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, which ultimately led to her execution. The chapter dedicated to Plamínková's journalistic work analyses her texts published between 1906-1940 primarily in women's magazines, where Plamínková reflected on the period narrative concerning women and aimed to change their limited options within both their public and private lives. The premise of this thesis is that Plamínková projected her own experience and opinions into her journalistic body of work. The study is based in archival materials and sources, texts in period magazines and other studies related to the topic at hand. Enclosed are several period photographs and archival documents.

The aim of the work was a political-historical description of development of the Communist Party of the Czechoslovakia in 1939-1945. The work in the beginning summarizes general political concepts, describes the Protectorate life, where was formed a communist resistance against the Nazis. It also includes a development of the Communist Party, its responses to major events that took place during World War II and the links with the Soviet Union, which had a major influence on the Communist Party of the Czechoslovakia. The used methods were mainly analysis and comparison of literature, period press and documents. Reflection of political and daily life in the weekly magazine Přítomnost: since munich to second world war

This thesis aims to evaluate the historical context, atmosphere and social and political events of the 1930s through the work of a weekly political magazine 'Pritomnost'. Firstly, the historical development of the magazine is introduced. Moreover, the situation of the mass media in the country during this time period is evaluated. Furthermore, the emphasis is put on the two core personalities of the magazine Ferdinand Peroutka and Milena Jesenska. Secondly, crucial articles of the magazine are analysed. For the purposes of this thesis articles from the periods of 'Second Republic' and 'Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia' were used. The thesis reflects the work of 'Pritomnost' until its suspension. In its analyses of the articles this thesis evaluates the main focus of the magazine, views of the editorial board and the atmosphere of the time. Quotations of these articles have been contextualised to accurately represent the historical events and options given to the editors by the censorship. In the conclusion the findings are summarised and the aims of the thesis are evaluated. The appendices show some key documents related to the magazine's journalistic work.
The trial with protectorate government and its presentation in the contemporary newspaper

The bachelor's work "The Trial with Protectorate Government and its Media Portrayal in Contemporary Press" is focused on judicial process with former protectorate government and its medial presentation. The task was to analyze articles of the periodical press Lidová demokracie, Svobodné slovo, Rudé právo and Čas in the key examined period of months from April 1946 until August 1946. The question of post-war retributions is related to this topic. Post-war period after May 1945 was characterized by the tendency of the state to re-establish political and economy stability and the effort to punish war betrayers and collaborators. The extraordinariness of the trial was proved in many details as application of specific legal framework, nonstandard form of the charge, presence of nonprofessional judges in senates of the extraordinary courts etc. Individual journals informed about the trial and accused ministers with various accent. Considerable media attention was paid especially to the declaration of adjudgement and tendencies to its revision.

This Bachelor thesis deals with anti-Jewish measurements in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and in the Slovak Republic during the Second World War. It analyses the relationship between the German Empire and two successors on the area of the Czech-Slovak Republic. The thesis aims to discover relationship between internal structure of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the Slovak Republic and anti-Jewish measurements, which were implemented by national political representations or they were ruled by the Nazi Germany. In the case of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the Slovak Republic the implementation of these measurements was combination of the initiative from national political representations and the influence of the German Empire.
